Pause and Effect is an inclusive design consultancy.

We partner with forward-thinking teams to create products, services and brands that resonate with, reflect and respect people from all walks of life. Through consulting, workshops and design tools we help teams uncover biases and operationalize DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) and sustainability.

Let's Get to Work

Are your products or services leaving people and planet behind?

As we introduce new products and services into the world, we may forget to ask: Are the experiences we're creating truly for "everyone"? Who is missing? Who might benefit that we haven't considered? Who are we leaving behind? And what impact are we having on the planet?

Traditional design practices rarely prioritize populations that are historically underrepresented, and rarely consider environmental impact and future generations.

At Pause and Effect, we help you create resilient products and services that generate a strong sense of belonging.

We are a team of anti-oppression consultants, designers, and eco futurists. We believe that organizations have the power to create access, change systems and radically reimagine possibilities through thoughtful and responsible design. If the system has been designed to oppress, it can be redesigned to liberate.

How we help

Your customers and employees want change. We help you design resilient products, services and workplaces by bringing inclusive and climate friendly perspectives to the table.

Build better products:

Inclusive design as a concept can appear to be very “theoretical”. We provide tangible design tools, side by side coaching, market research, and co-design facilitation to help teams gain product insight and apply a DEI and sustainability lens as they work.

Level up your DEI strategy:

Your DEI strategy shouldn’t stop at recruitment. Diversity, equity and inclusion is most effective when it is operationalized and woven into the fabric of your organization at every level. Through consultation with your leadership, employees and customers we help co-create a robust, data driven strategy that brings DEI to life.

Design better:

Our design audits assess the way your team builds. We consider your outputs, how work gets done, what your user data is telling us. Our comprehensive report outlines gaps and opportunities within your design practice that will allow teams to ultimately produce more inclusive and sustainable outcomes.

Educate your team:

Our experiential workshops help participants learn and practice inclusive, responsible, and planet-centric design. Workshops are tailored to a wide range of audiences including Product, UX and Innovation teams, HR, and executive audiences.

Pause and Effect brought a wonderful sense of clarity and interactive content when it came to Inclusive Design. Sabrina and Cherrie's ability to share applicable examples and relatable analogies to describe complex concepts was wonderfully appreciated by our employee resource group. Many attendees walked away with a greater appreciation for what it means to think more broadly and holistically when creating, designing, and implementing solutions for clients. I’d certainly recommend others to explore and engage Pause and Effect as an organization to aid and drive inclusion efforts, we certainly enjoyed our time working with them.
