Outschool - Establishing an embedded inclusive design practice

Project objective:

To establish an integrated and embedded inclusive design practice within Outschool.

What we did:

Developed a customized design tool that could be used by any Outschool employee, to guide intersectional, critical thinking when designing products, programs, services, policies, and experiences, and when making decisions.

The tool included several reflection prompts for both problem discovery and solutioning, which enables teams to consider systemic implications, and make decisions which center the joy and flourishing of marginalized communities.

To introduce the application of this design tool to Outschool, Pause and Effect provided learning experiences where employees had the opportunity to practice applying the tool to real user processes and product features.
